Burndown Chart

A burndown chart illustrates the advancement made toward achieving the goal within a single sprint or iteration.

It presents a visual representation of the remaining work (vertical axis) plotted against time (horizontal axis).

This type of chart is commonly employed to track and communicate a team's progress throughout an iteration and is often reviewed during daily standup meetings.

When integrated into an information radiator, it offers real-time insights into the team's advancement, enabling continuous adjustment and planning as needed.

In contrast, a burnup chart extends its scope across multiple iterations, unlike the burndown chart, which solely concentrates on a single sprint or iteration.

Burnup chart is covered in the Adaptive Agility Fundamentals class as part of Agility Metrics.

While this is from a tool company, this Lucidchart article did a good job describing a burnup and a burndown chart, their differences, and their potential use cases.
