Daily Standup

The daily standup is a daily planning event held during workdays to prepare for the upcoming day's activities.

Despite common misconceptions, it is not a status meeting but rather a gathering to ensure team alignment and readiness in executing towards the iteration goal for that day.

Typically, the event is kept brief, lasting no longer than 15 minutes and often shorter. There are two common formats: person-driven, where each team member has the opportunity to speak, and story-driven, which focuses on the work itself.

Regardless of the format chosen, the team should acknowledge and celebrate achievements since the last standup, identify any obstacles that require attention, and coordinate any new tasks that will commence on that day.

Furthermore, the daily standup serves as a vital communication touch-point to disseminate relevant information that the team needs to be aware of on that particular day.
