Scrum Master Role
In the Scrum framework, the term "Scrum Master" is defined as the individual accountable for the effectiveness of the Scrum Team. However, this definition is often misunderstood, as the role is not solely responsible for implementing the Scrum framework.
To clarify the purpose of this role, we now refer to it as the "Agility Owner" or "Team Agility Coach," which better encapsulates its intended function.
The Agility Owner or Team Agility Coach is responsible for establishing a well-defined agility approach that is actively implemented. They coach team members, aid other roles in understanding their responsibilities, and offer support as needed.
It's important to view them as leaders rather than mere administrators. They provide a diverse range of essential services to foster a high-performing team and extend beyond merely arranging meetings and updating storyboards.
